| Bears Handed 6-5 Loss | The Hosho Reliables knocked off the Sapporo Bears, 6-5, at Nagoya Minami Stadium. Daijiro Nakamura was a big reason Hosho won. The shortstop slugged 2 home runs. Motomu Taira sewed up the save, his 11th. Hosho has won 3 straight, while Sapporo has lost 3 in a row.
Akitoshi Yamane drove in one run for Hosho. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Yamane had a clutch at-bat. Facing Sapporo hurler Eisaku Yamaoka, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Reliables a 6-5 lead.
Nakamura told reporters after the game: "Close wins always feel extra good."
