| Kingfishers Use Late Score to Top Dynamics, 4-3 | Denki got a terrific performance from pitcher Tom Hodges, but it wasn't enough to beat the Yokohama Kingfishers. Yokohama won the Kanagawa Stadium contest, 4-3. Hodges threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Yokohama reliever Toshinori Osada was the winner. His record is now 6-4. The losing pitcher was Kuniaki Usui. Yokohama has won 6 straight, while Denki has lost 3 in a row.
Had Michihiro Kobashi not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Kobashi hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Kingfishers.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Kobashi.
