| 5 Straight Wins for Kingfishers | The Yokohama Kingfishers racked up a win at Kanagawa Stadium, bumping off the Denki Dynamics, 6-5. Kinzo Yoshimura, who started for Yokohama, pitched effectively for his team. In 7.1 innings, Yoshimura surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 4 runs. Yokohama goes to 44-28. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
Shigemitsu Fukui had a big 3-run home run for the Kingfishers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Yokohama leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Komiya Takahashi, who is a two-time All-Star, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Kingfishers on top, 5-1.
"Kinzo showed what he's made of," said Yokohama manager Tommy McDonell.
