The umbrellas came out during the Yokohama-Denki contest at Kanagawa Stadium.

The Yokohama Kingfishers picked up a win at Kanagawa Stadium, knocking off the Denki Dynamics, 5-4. On the mound for Yokohama was left-hander Bill Sauerwein. He played a key role in the triumph. Yoisuke Nishizawa wrapped it up, recording his 9th save.

Thoki Kaneshige, who finished 4th in the EL in RBI with 71 in 1970, contributed to the Yokohama win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.

Yokohama manager Masayoshi Nozawa praised his team's "energy."
