| Bears Snatch Late-Game, 2-1 Win | In a low-scoring contest, Sapporo pitcher Chiko Abe was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win in 10 innings. The winner was Sapporo reliever Yukinobu Nobuhara, now 3-3. The loser was Kiyoji Nakamura. The setback makes Yokohama 26-49.
Takatoshi Yamamoto provided a timely hit. The Sapporo center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bears on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"The want-to is there for our guys," said Yokohama manager Masayoshi Nozawa. "We'll get this thing turned around."
