Bears Earn Win with Late Rally
The 4-3 Sapporo win over Yokohama was due largely to Masao Shiotani. The Bears first baseman was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Eisaku Yamaoka earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 6-6. The 5th-place Bears sport a record of 30-44.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Shiotani delivered big-time for Sapporo, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Yoisuke Nishizawa. The game-changing hit put the Bears on top, 4-3.

"If I can still take nourishment, I can still hit," said the ageless Shiotani.
