| Kingfishers Turn Away Bears, 4-2 | The Yokohama Kingfishers locked up a win at Kanagawa Stadium, knocking off the Sapporo Bears, 4-2. On the mound for Yokohama was right-hander Kinzo Yoshimura. He played a major role in the triumph. The winner was Yoshimura. He threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Mario de los Santos. The third-place Kingfishers have won 4 straight.
Souhei Tamura had a big 2-run home run for the Kingfishers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Yokohama leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Mario de los Santos, who is tied for 4th in the EL in innings pitched with 112.2, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Kingfishers on top, 4-1.
"The vibe's good," said Yokohama manager Tommy McDonell. "We've got to keep it going."
