| Kingfishers Deal Reliables 10-2 Loss | Yokohama beat Hosho in a rain-soaked ballgame.
No one was more impactful than Kazuaki Mukai in the 10-2 Yokohama win over Hosho. Mukai, who finished 5th in the EL in on-base percentage with .369 in 1954, went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. Picking up the win was Fumimaro Yamauchi. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 1. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Minao Akagi.
Yonekichi Okazaki, the Yokohama left fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 5-1, Kingfishers. For the game, Okazaki went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Shun Kawamura.
Yokohama is 33-31 and Hosho, with the loss, 37-26.
