Though the conditions were not ideal, the Hosho Reliables and Sapporo Bears came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Hosho Reliables picked up a win at Sapporo Stadium, dropping the Sapporo Bears, 5-2. Shinki Kimura, who finished 4th in the EL in innings pitched with 232.0 in 1957, was the difference-maker. In 7 innings, Kimura surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Hod Taylor Jr. earned the save for Hosho, his 10th of the year.

Hosho used the timely hitting of Tomohiko Hamano to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reliables on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"For the most part, I felt like I did a pretty good job with executing the pitches I was throwing," said Kimura.

The first-place Reliables have won 6 straight games.
