| Bears Come Up Short at Denki, 5-4 | The Denki Dynamics had to overcome a fine effort from Sapporo pitcher Arata Komatsu to win, 5-4, at Kanda Stadium. Komatsu went 8 innings and allowed 5 runs. Sadatake Suzuki, now 4-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. The Dynamics raised their record to 23-35.
In the bottom of the seventh, Denki left fielder Satoshi Takahashi had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, Takahashi stroked a run-scoring single to left-center. It made the score 4-3, Denki. For the game, he was 1 for 4.
Denki manager Tadashi Iwamoto was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
