| Hosho Beats Kyoto, 5-3 | Hosho picked up a win at Owls Park, bumping off the Kyoto Owls, 5-3. Pitcher Shirai Takahashi was a major reason the Reliables emerged victorious. Iwao Yamamoto, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities. With the win, the Reliables sit at 31-26.
Hosho second baseman Yamahiko Hirata contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 79th hit of the season and put the Reliables ahead, 2-0.
"It's a mindset," said Takahashi. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
