Starting pitcher Fumimaro Yamauchi was a major factor in the 3-2 Yokohama Kingfishers triumph over the Hosho Reliables. In 6 innings, Yamauchi surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.
Yokohama pinch hitter Kimiyasu Aoki contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Kingfishers ahead, 3-1.
Aoki called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
With the win, Yokohama pushed its record to 32-18.
