The Sapporo Bears converted a terrific effort from starter Naruki Shimada into a win over the Rakisuta Rams at Sapporo Stadium. The Bears won the game by a final score of 9-2. Shimada picked up the win for Sapporo, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 3-4. Picking up the save was Eisaku Yamaoka, his 6th.

The Bears got a big hit from first baseman Masao Shiotani. Facing Rakisuta pitcher Sadatake Suzuki in the bottom of the eighth, Shiotani pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season put the Bears ahead, 9-2.

Shiotani told a Sapporo Gazette reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."

Sapporo now sports a record of 21-37.
