Denki first baseman Satoshi Takahashi had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Kyoto at Kanda Stadium. Takahashi was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Isoroku Furuta got the win, improving to 2-5. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Naizen Sano, who is tied for 2nd in the EL in saves with 7, earned the save for Kyoto.
Making an impact for Kyoto was right fielder Shoyo Miyazawa. He drilled a 2-run double off Tom Hodges in the top of the fifth. For the game, Miyazawa went 2 for 5 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Miyazawa.
The Owls raised their record to 24-26.
