| Yoshida Lifts Kingfishers to 9-1 Win | The Yokohama Kingfishers defeated the Denki Dynamics, 9-1, at Kanagawa Stadium. Leading the charge for Yokohama was left fielder Hidetsugu Yoshida. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Fumimaro Yamauchi, who is tied for 4th in the EL in quality starts with 9, was the winning pitcher. Over 9 innings, he allowed 1 run on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. The Kingfishers have an impressive 29-16 record.
Thoki Kaneshige had a big run-scoring double for the Kingfishers in the bottom of the first inning. With Yokohama leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Hodges and swatted a double to left. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kingfishers ahead, 2-0.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Kaneshige told the Yokohama Gazette.
