| Kingfishers Suffer 5-1 Home Loss | The Yokohama Kingfishers and Kyoto Owls completed their game despite the rain.
Masatoshi Sakai pitched a gem to lead Yokohama to victory over the Kyoto Owls, 5-1. Sakai, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks.
Yokohama used the hitting of Daijiro Sato to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 2-1. For the game, Sato had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Sakai.
The Eastern League-leading Kingfishers have a record of 26-16.
