| Reliables Stick Rams with 5-1 Loss | The Hosho Reliables got a rain-soaked win over the Rakisuta Rams.
Kiyoharu Kawamoto, who is tied for 8th in the EL with a 5.7 K/9 rate, had a strong outing for the Hosho Reliables against the Rakisuta Rams at Rakisuta Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-1 win. Kawamoto, now 4-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
Hank Dunham had a big 2-run home run for the Reliables in the top of the fifth inning. With Hosho leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Juro Esaki, who is tied for 10th in the EL in complete games with 2, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 18th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reliables ahead, 4-1.
"Kiyoharu never lets off the gas," said Hosho manager Shun Kawamura. "Good, bad, or ugly, he never gives in."
Hosho is now 35-15, while Rakisuta is 20-30.
