| Kyoto Beaten, 5-3, by Yokohama | Yokohama and Kyoto duked it out and the Kingfishers came out victorious.
The Yokohama Kingfishers racked up a win at Owls Park, bumping off the Kyoto Owls, 5-3. Kakuro Watanabe, who started for Yokohama, pitched effectively for his team. Watanabe got the win, improving to 4-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Yoisuke Nishizawa nailed down his 2nd save.
Yokohama left fielder Masanori Takagi contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 38th hit of the season and put the Kingfishers ahead, 5-2.
"We think we're a good team overall, so we're not too surprised to win today," said Takagi.
The loss makes Kyoto 27-23.
