| Reliables Beat Visiting Kingfishers, 7-5 | The Hosho Reliables topped the Yokohama Kingfishers, 7-5, in Eastern League action at Nagoya Minami Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Hosho pitcher and Sendai, Japan, native Shinki Kimura. Shirai Takahashi picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Hirotsugu Sasaki suffered the loss. Genichi Tsukamoto sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Hosho took a 7-5 lead on Jiro Hara's 1st double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hara hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Yokohama pitcher Hirotsugu Sasaki visibly frustrated.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Hosho manager Shun Kawamura.
The Reliables sport a record of 29-16.
