| Reliables Get Better of Kingfishers, 9-2 | Hosho starter Fumimaro Yamauchi kept the Yokohama hitters in check, while his team cruised to a win, 9-2. Yamauchi, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The first-place Reliables go to 32-15.
Daijiro Nakamura's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 2-2. The Hosho shortstop hit a run-scoring single off Motokazu Oyama to put the Reliables up.
"For the most part, I felt like I did a pretty good job with executing the pitches I was throwing," said Yamauchi.
