| With 4-3 Win, Owls Improve to 27-22 | Though he had a stellar game, Kai Yoneda could not prevent his team, the Sapporo Bears, from losing, 4-3, to the Kyoto Owls. Yoneda went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ukita Tomita got credit for the win, improving to 7-0. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Earning his 11th save of the year was Kenshin Kon.
Had Toyohiro Wada not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Wada hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Owls.
"We put together a nice win," Wada said.
The win puts the Owls at 27-22, while the Bears drop to 21-28.
