| Kingfishers Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Rams, 3-2 | The Kingfishers grabbed a win, 3-2, at Rakisuta Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Rakisuta pitcher Genya Ishii. Ishii went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The win boosted Yokohama to 23-19.
Yokohama used the clutch hitting of Kazuaki Mukai to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Kingfishers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We were in it," said Rakisuta manager Bob Lester. "We just didn't score enough runs."
