| Nishio Leads Owls to 8-2 Win Over Bears | The exploits of center fielder Naonobu Nishio, who is tied for 10th in the EL in triples with 2, helped the Kyoto Owls defeat the Sapporo Bears, 8-2. Nishio went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Kyoto is now 20-23, Sapporo 28-16.
Tomonori Shimada put Kyoto in front, 6-0, when he hit a 3-run home run off Sumiteru Yoshida in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 8th home run of the season.
