| Yokohama Claims 2-1 Victory | The skies opened up and the rain fell at Kanagawa Stadium.
Meguru Kanda, who is tied for 5th in the EL in quality starts with 6, was locked in. The right-hander led the Yokohama Kingfishers to a 2-1 win against the Sapporo Bears at Kanagawa Stadium. After today's action, Yokohama sits at 17-29, while Sapporo falls to 16-30.
The Kingfishers got a big hit from left fielder Toyoji Iwamoto. Facing Sapporo pitcher Tatsuki Nakagawa in the bottom of the sixth, Iwamoto pounded a solo home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season put the Kingfishers ahead, 2-1.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Kanda. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
