Reliables Use Late Rally to Win 6th Straight
Hosho beat Sapporo in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Takashi Masuda, who is tied for 6th in the EL with a 1.17 WHIP, had a strong outing for the Hosho Reliables against the Sapporo Bears at Sapporo Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Hosho pitcher Motomu Taira got the win, upping his record to 3-3. Eisaku Yamaoka got the loss. The save went to Junya Yamagata, number 3 for him.

Hosho used a timely hit from Hank Dunham to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reliables ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"We've been playing some good baseball," Masuda told the Hosho News. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."

The first-place Reliables go to 26-12.
