| Hosho Tacks 5-1 Loss on Rakisuta | The Hosho Reliables beat the Rakisuta Rams, 5-1, at Nagoya Minami Stadium. Starting pitcher Eichiro Ueno was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winner was Ueno. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Masakado Matsuda. Hosho has an impressive 22-10 record.
In the bottom of the fourth inning of a 1-1 tie, Hosho third baseman Chikato Sato reached on an error by the right fielder, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put Hosho on top, 2-1.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Ueno. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
