Victory Takes Kingfishers to 19-9 | Yokohama left fielder Yonekichi Okazaki played a vital role in his team's 7-3 conquest of Kyoto. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Yokohama. The winning pitcher was five-time All-Star Kinzo Yoshimura. He tossed 96 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. Naruki Shimada collected his 2nd save.
Michihiro Kobashi had a big grand slam home run for the Kingfishers in the bottom of the first inning. With Yokohama leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from Toshimasa Kobayashi, who is a two-time All-Star, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Kingfishers on top, 5-0.
"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Yokohama skipper Tommy McDonell.
The Yokohama winning streak has reached 3 games. | |
