| With 5-2 Win, Reliables Improve to 10-5 | The Hosho Reliables picked up a win at Owls Park, knocking off the Kyoto Owls, 5-2. Starting pitcher Takamichi Smith was a big reason why. In 8 innings, Smith surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The save was credited to Michito Yanagi, his 2nd.
Hosho catcher Jokichi Kono contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 18th hit of the season and put the Reliables ahead, 4-2.
"We'll try to build on that win," Kono told the Hosho Citizen.
The Owls are now 6-9.
