| Cannons Throttled by Cougars, 4-1 | The Chicago Cougars rode a solid performance from 45-year-old starting pitcher Jim Norris to a win, beating the Cincinnati Cannons, 4-1, at Cougars Park. The winner was Norris. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Herm Quinn. The win for the Cougars raised their record to 62-54.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the fifth, Norris had a key at-bat for Chicago. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Norris hit a run-scoring single off Herm Quinn, making the score 2-1, Cougars.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Norris.
