In 8 innings, Turner surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The 4th-place Millers lifted their record to 41-46.
Julio Castaneda had a big solo home run for the Millers in the top of the fourth inning. With Minneapolis leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Jim Stewart, who finished 4th in the FA in strikeouts with 178 in 1969, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Millers on top, 2-0.
Despite the victory, Castaneda was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
