Oakland's Gunderson Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Dick Gunderson had an answer for everything the San Francisco Miners threw at him at Gulls Stadium. The Oakland right fielder went 5-for-5 in the game to put his name in the record book and give the Acorns a win, 9-1.

Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Gunderson said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."

Dick Gunderson singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Charlie Godbey in the 9th.
