Ralston Shuts Out Portland, 3-0
The Los Angeles Saints shut out the Portland Foresters, 3-0, behind the strong pitching of Elmer Ralston. Ralston surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 6.

Following the last out, Ralston appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Portland manager Kevin McCart, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Ralston's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Foresters skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Saints press conference, Ralston confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Ralston said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Los Angeles manager Ray Zimmerman added.

This season, Ralston has worked 45.1 innings with 19 strikeouts en route to a 4-0 record and a 1.79 ERA.
