Hawks Pull Even With 9-6 Victory
In the 9-6 San Francisco win over Dallas, the impact of Don Long was substantial. Long, who is tied for 6th in the GWL with a .339 batting average, went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2. Zeke King got credit for the win, improving to 7-11. Had Bob Griffin not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Griffin hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Hawks.
