Buck Michaels kept the Portland Foresters hitters from doing much damage at Oakland Base Ball Park.

Portland could only muster 8 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Michaels, who controlled them throughout the game. Oakland won the contest, 3-0. Michaels added 3 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.

"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Michaels told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
