Houston turned a fine outing from starter Spencer Reese into a victory over the St. Louis Pioneers at Dalton Domed Stadium. The final score was 10-2. Reese, now 4-0, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Pioneers, now 7-21, continue their sluggish start.

Houston catcher Jerry Robinson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 27th hit of the season and put the Comets ahead, 3-0.

"The effort wasn't good enough," said losing manager Babe Johnson.
