Draper Excels, But Eagles Win
The Pittsburgh Miners could not turn a fine performance from right fielder Chuck Draper into a win. Instead, the Washington Eagles prevailed, 9-8. Draper was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Washington, at 69-56, holds down third place in the Federal Association.

With Washington leading 8-2 in the top of the fourth, Tom Lorang hit a run-scoring single off Pittsburgh pitcher Bill Peterson. It put the Eagles ahead 9-2.

"At the end of the day, wins and losses are really the only thing that matters," said Lorang.
