| Millers Defeat Chiefs, 6-4 | The Minneapolis Millers defeated the Chicago Chiefs, 6-4, in 10 innings at Whitney Park. Rusty Robertson pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Minneapolis reliever Ben Baird picked up the win, upping his record to 12-9. John Thomas absorbed the loss. The 4th-place Millers go to 38-42.
Minneapolis used the clutch hitting of George Fisher to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Millers ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"Good, gritty kind of win," said Millers manager Harry Hammond. | |
