The Baltimore Clippers topped the Boston Minutemen, 8-1, in Federal Association action at Minuteman Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Baltimore pitcher and Toledo, Ohio, native Johnny Hugot. The second-place Clippers now have a record of 40-33.

Hank Wallace hit a bases-clearing double off Richie Thornton in the top of the fifth, which put the Clippers in front, 3-0. In addition to the double, Wallace had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.

In postgame remarks, Wallace said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
