A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the St. Louis Pioneers and Los Angeles Suns.

The St. Louis Pioneers went home winners at Pioneer Field III, thanks in large part to starter Jack Cornwell. Cornwell stifled the Los Angeles Suns, enabling St. Louis to grab the 6-0 win. At 36-41, the Pioneers are currently last in the Federal Association West.

John Richards, the St. Louis first baseman, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 3-0, Pioneers. For the game, Richards was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said St. Louis manager Babe Johnson.
