| Copperheads Reel Off Another Win, 10-1 | Boosted by the 3-hit performance of Henry Woods, who finished 5th in the CA in OPS with .959 in 1963, the Atlanta Copperheads defeated the Washington Eagles, 10-1. The winning pitcher was Harry Inge. He tossed 110 pitches over 8.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits. Atlanta, now 51-20, has stretched its winning streak to 10 games.
With Atlanta trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Woods hit a curveball from Herman White for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Copperheads ahead, 2-1.
"Young guys to old guys," said Woods, "we're all going out there and doing what it takes to win." | |
