| Gothams Toast Keystones, 12-3 | The New York Gothams knocked off the Philadelphia Keystones, 12-3, at Liberty Coliseum. Paul Church was a big reason New York won. The first baseman went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. New York starter Bunny Mullins was credited with the win after throwing 149 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 5-6. The Gothams improved their record to 33-37 by beating Philadelphia.
Joe Jones had a big 3-run home run for the Gothams in the top of the third inning. With New York leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Downing and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Gothams on top, 7-1.
"Very good win for our guys," said Jones. | |
