Cannons Victorious at Cleveland, 3-1 | Ike Johnson pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Cleveland Foresters, despite Johnson's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Cincinnati Cannons at Forester Stadium. The Cannons improved their record to 45-39 with the win over Cleveland.
Cincinnati used a timely hit from 30-year old right fielder Fred Lainhart to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cannons on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was huge.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Lainhart. | |
