Gothams Suffer 5-2 Setback
Columbia Stadium was the site for Federal Association action featuring the New York Gothams and Washington Eagles.

The Washington Eagles picked up a win at Columbia Stadium, dropping the New York Gothams, 5-2. Eddie Yandow, who is tied for 5th in the FA in quality starts with 12, was the difference-maker. Doc Lindley, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.

Washington went up, 3-2, on Al Marino's 7th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Marino hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New York pitcher Bunny Mullins shaking his head.

"Eddie is one tough hombre," said Washington manager Joe D'Aprile.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 33-37.
