Chiefs Win at St. Louis, 5-0 | The Chicago Chiefs got a good effort from starter John Thomas in defeating the St. Louis Pioneers at Pioneer Field III. The final score was 5-0. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Chicago.
Ed Bloom had a big run-scoring double for the Chiefs in the top of the fifth inning. With Chicago leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Billy Hasson, who finished 2nd in the FA in ERA with 2.95 in 1959, and swatted a double to center. It was his 28th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 3-0.
"When John is on, he can really move the ball around," said Chicago manager Dutch Becker. | |
