| Philadelphia Triumphs with Late Surge | Due in large part to third baseman Lloyd Coulter, the Philadelphia Keystones sunk the Detroit Dynamos, 7-4. Coulter was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Fred McKnight got the save, the 1st for him this season. The Keystones sit in second place in the Federal Association with a record of 54-39.
Experiment, Georgia-born Marshall Thomas came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Keystones trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Philadelphia on top.
"Solid performance from our side," said Keystones manager Don Fox.
