In 12, Detroit Sinks Pittsburgh, 8-6
The Detroit Dynamos defeated the Pittsburgh Miners, 8-6, in 12 innings. Much of the credit belonged to right fielder Pat Petty, who went 2-4 with a home run and a walk for the Dynamos. The winner in relief was Dave Irwin. He is now 4-2. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Dick Greenhalgh earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.

In the top of the 12th, Petty hit a tie-breaking solo home run to help the Dynamos capture the win.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Petty. "I like it."

The second-place Dynamos have won 4 straight.
