The performance of Bill Bell proved critical in helping Los Angeles beat Toronto, 7-5. The Stars second baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The win went to Ed Blanchard in relief, making him now 1-1. Andy Masson took the loss for Toronto. John Herzog earned the save for Los Angeles, his 1st of the year.

Bell had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 sinker from Andy Masson, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Stars a 7-5 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Bell.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Bell said in reaction to the win.

The win gives Los Angeles a season record of 38-23.
