| Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Pioneers | Tige Bowe, who is tied for 9th in the FA in quality starts with 9, had a strong outing for the St. Louis Pioneers against the New York Gothams at Gotham Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Curly Anderson closed it out for St. Louis, earning his 5th save. The loss makes New York 28-29.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Art Williams to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pioneers on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I was able to miss barrels for the most part and the guys behind me made plays," said Bowe. | |
