Suns Lose to Millers in Walk-Off
The Los Angeles Suns could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dixie Gaines into a win. Instead, the Minneapolis Millers prevailed, 5-4. Gaines threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner in relief was Dan Charlton. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-7. The Millers now have a record of 48-91.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Minneapolis. That's when 26-year old shortstop Cecil Cummings hit a 2-run double off Whitey Stewart to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"It was a good effort all around," said Cummings.
