| Miners Take Home 3-1 Win Over Washington | Pittsburgh left-hander Jimmy Blair pitched his team to victory over the Washington Eagles at Columbia Stadium. The final score was 3-1. The winning pitcher was Blair, now 5-9. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. George Kollock earned his 14th save in 20 tries.
Mike Whisman, who is tied for 7th in the FA in extra base hits with 33, had a direct impact on the outcome. Whisman contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 2-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Whisman said.
The loss makes Washington 48-39.
