| Los Angeles Beats New York, Goes to 34-22 | Los Angeles turned a good effort from starter Vean Conrad into a win over the New York Imperials at Bigsby Stadium. The final score was 4-1. Conrad, now 7-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 2nd save for Los Angeles was Floyd Warner.
The Imperials had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Stars going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old left fielder Red Standish came to the plate. Standish hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-0 fastball from New York hurler Howie Weston. It was Standish's 4th double of the year.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Standish. "Those qualities define our team."
With the win, the Stars have a record of 34-22. | |
