Foresters Victors, 3-2, at San Francisco | The Cleveland Foresters picked up a win at Golden Gate Stadium, knocking off the San Francisco Sailors, 3-2. Starting pitcher Sonny Stoyer played a key role in the triumph. The save was credited to Johnny Ogden, his 9th. The 6th-place Foresters bumped their record to 35-32.
Cleveland used a well-timed hit by Tom Carr to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Foresters ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said San Francisco manager Chris Beck. | |
