Van Orden was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles for the Dynamos. Joe Jones earned the win to go to 6-3. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Bud Dixon earned the save for Detroit.
Ty Rusconi, who led the CA in doubles with 40 in 1965, helped out the Detroit cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher drove in one run.
"I was a little disappointed," said Washington manager Joe D'Aprile. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
