| Copperheads Beat Minutemen, 8-3 | The Atlanta Copperheads besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Boston shortstop Charlie Hartsell by beating the Minutemen, 8-3, at Peachtree Stadium. Hartsell was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Howie Burt picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 7-0. Atlanta currently is in first place in the Federal Association East at 25-15.
John Newton, the Atlanta shortstop, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 5-3, Copperheads. For the game, Newton was 2-4 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
