| Copperheads Popped by Clippers, 6-3 | The Baltimore Clippers picked up a win at Patapsco Field, knocking off the Atlanta Copperheads, 6-3. Starting pitcher Jose Martinez was a big reason why. Martinez picked up the win for Baltimore, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Atlanta, with the loss, is still a robust 6-2.
Baltimore second baseman Clay Roberts contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 10th hit of the season and put the Clippers ahead, 3-0.
"It was a solid team effort," Roberts said. "That's usually what it takes to win." | |
