Beacons Rally to Nose Past New York
The Boston Beacons did just enough to secure a victory over the New York Stars, 5-4, in 15 innings at Riverside Stadium II. Nobody did more than pitcher Al Clark. John Hicks picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. John Rubin suffered the loss. New York falls to 7-6.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Owen Gill came to bat in the top of the 15th. Facing New York pitcher John Rubin, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 5-4.

"It was a solid team effort," said Gill after the game.
